Catherine facilitated a staff development workshop, entitled: 'Creative Interventions: Being the change they wish to see'. The workshop will explore student’s not-for-profit work-related activities, asking participants to consider issues of value, profile and implications for curriculum design.

Margo ran a workshop on 'Visual Plagiarism' and Kirsten co-ordinated students and alumni from AUCB to facilitate a workshop, putting the value of a creative arts education 'On Trial'.

Angeliki presented a paper entitled 'Real experience, real value: public and third sector work-related learning', at the annual HE Academy conference.

 

Learning and the London Workplace

South Kensington, London, Friday 3 April, 2009

A conference focused on formal and informal learning in the workplace. This conference endeavours to provide a 360° view of individuals as learners in the workplace, through the lenses of interning, volunteerism, mentoring and other forms of workplace learning and development. While the intern or volunteer is often placed in the centre of this discussion, the perceptions and learning experience of everyone involved in the process is of interest. Catherine attended.

 

Learning for a Complex World: Learning to be Professional through a Life-wide Curriculum

Norman's department hosted this conference to 'encourage exploration of the concept [of a life-wide curriculum] in the context of enabling learners to develop the agency and capability necessary to become an effective and successful professional.' Angeliki presented a paper to share findings from the pilot case study about the Sorrell Foundation Young Design Programme.

Angeliki & Catherine facilitated a short workshop at this forum with ADM-HEA colleagues (co-organised by Kirsten and Carolyn Bew), exploring how we teach generic creative agencies to enable learners to tackle challenging situations and problems. Findings will feed into the first qualitative phase of the project.
